Insidermedicine Volunteers

Are you looking to join The Insidermedicine Project's volunteer team?

If so, here are some programs that we have created for those interested in volunteering for the Insidermedicine Project. We have formal programs for High School Students, PreMedical Students and Medical Students.

A. Insidermedicine's High School Program

Are you are a high school student who is interested in a career in Medicine or Journalism? If yes, then Insidermedicine's High School Program is something that you should consider. As a volunteer you can:

  • Produce your own medically-related videos. To produce your own video you should plan on a 40-50 hour commitment. Essential elements that go into the creation of a high-quality video include thoroughly researching a medical condition, learning about a particular medical doctor that you plan to interview, interviewing and filming the doctor and editing the footage. For IB Diploma Programme students in an IB World School, you might consider volunteering with The Insidermedicine Project as part of your 150 hour CAS commitment. Please talk to your school's IB co-ordinator to determine if this activity would be accepted for CAS by your school.
  • Interview some of the world's foremost physicians. These doctors may even be a relative of a family friend.
  • If your video is chosen to be aired on Insidermedicine, your work could help to communicate the latest medical research findings to patients. It may also be seen by many medical doctors, teachers, and medical students around the world.

Benefits of volunteering through this program include:

  • You get a chance to interact with a doctor and learn what it is really like to be a physician
  • You will have produced a medical video that many around the world may see, including those who sit on University admissions committees
  • It will satisfy criteria for volunteering and may also be used for class credit
  • If your video is chosen to be aired on Insidermedicine, many patients around the world will learn from your video
